Top 10 Ways to Go Green, Live Green and Save Money
by Dan Howard
"Going Green" is the hip thing to do right now. The choice to live green and have a more eco friendly lifestyle is a beneficial to you and the environment. You can do this by using, reusing, or buying organic materials to help your new green and natural lifestyle. I have put together a Top 10, ways to go green, live green and save money... you can find them below.
1. Be More Efficient and Aware- First things first, if you want to start living green you need to be more aware of your surroundings...for a lack of better words stop being wasteful.
* Turn off the tv if you're not watching it.
* Turn off the lights if you're not in that room.
* Turn off the water if you're not using it at that exact moment.
* Cook just enough food that you will eat, if not, use all the leftovers.
Start to become more efficient and turn these items off and it will save you money on your utility bills.
2. Be Righteous and Recycle- The more you can recycle the better and the less you have to spend.
* Start saving your aluminum cans.
* Recycle old plastic bottles, newspapers and anything else you can.
* Reuse old notebook paper, printer paper etc..for scrap paper you need to write things down on.
* If you need to shred a paper, use the shredded aftermath for when you ship something.
* Reuse shopping bags. I use my plastic shopping bags for lunch bags, trash liners, dirty clothes when camping and more.
Recycling helps cut down waste, so we can reduce the waste that is going to landfills.
3. Buy Organic and Energy Efficient- When you go to buy food, try to purchase food that is grown organically because a lot of food is grown with pesticides and other chemicals. Buying food that is grown organically is more healthier, less toxic for humans and animals, it is also good for the environment. If you are buying new appliances or used look for the energy star logo on them. That will tell you that it is energy efficient. Those with the energy star label will also increase your savings in the long run.
4. Buy in Bulk when you're able to- Buying in bulk is a little lighter on the wallet then buying single items and it cuts down on the trash we throw out. That includes food, light bulbs, and anything else we might go through a lot. Make sure you get the "Green" energy saving light bulbs. They might be a tad more expensive, but will be worth it because they last longer and save energy.
5. Buy Organic Cleaners or Make Your Own- Buying organic cleaners is a lot safer for your household full of kids or just for yourself. You can also use common items already in your home as cleaning supplies like, baking soda, lemon with gentle soaps and even vinegar.
Using those common items can save you money on many of the toxic cleaners that getting more expensive each day.
6. Car pool or drive less- Try to car pool as much as you can, but if you can't just drive less. Have your errands and route all planned out before you take off for your destination to cut down on time your wasting, pollution and even fuel. This will be a big help for you and the environment. Especially with gas prices where they are.
7. Use the dish, Clean the dish- Try to use those dishes that you have stashed in the cabinets, instead of using paper, foam, or anytime type of disposable plate. It help to cut down on the waste even more. Buy cloth napkins too, so they are reusable and stop buying paper towels. This alone add up in some serious savings if you have a packed house. When washing the dishes remember to not have the water running if you absolutley need it right then and if you use a dishwasher, wait until it's completely full to run it.
....and the savings keep stacking up!
8. Be Creative- Reuse items that you have no use for anymore and recreate something else you might need. Creative home decor will be a new and interesting twist around your home. You will be amazed at some of things you could use to make something new and exciting. If you don't have that creative bone...make sure you buy recycled art of some kind if you want something new around the house. There are plenty of organic stores and organic shops that have cool, original and recycled materials mastered into something unique.
9. Use Technology- Use the internet to send e-cards instead of the traditional greeting, birthday, or Christmas cards. There tons of free programs to send e-cards from. Just get on google and type in e-card and start sending to you're blue in the face. Buy online at an organic store or organic shop to save gas and your time. Organic gifts are a hot item right now during the holidays.
This will once again....save you money and reduce the wastefulness.
10. "Share The Green"- Share with all your family and friends on how to become more eco friendly by shopping at an organic store, giving organic gifts, and start living a eco friendly lifestyle, so they too can start saving money and helping the environment

-- Lyrics --
Say, hey! Hear the sound of the falling rain Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!) The shame The ones who died without a name Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!) And bleed, the company lost the war today I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protester has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the money's on the other side Can I get another Amen? (Amen!) There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!) A gag, a plastic bag on a monument I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday (Hey!) (Say, hey!) (3,4) "The representative from California has the floor" Sieg Heil to the president Gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah! I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives This is our lives on holiday .
